Golden Eagles Cheerleading
Tackle Football Cheer (3rd through 8th grade)
The Glen Ellyn Park District Golden Eagles Cheerleading Program is for girls and boys. It is a
twofold travel program, providing sideline cheering and halftime routines at the Golden Eagles
Football games as well as participating in dance and cheer competitions in the Chicagoland area.
This sport teaches technical cheer fundamentals, sideline cheers, and short dance and cheer
routines. Cheerleaders will learn technical cheer skills including stunting, mounting and a variety of
jumps. Each squad will cheer weekly and compete in a minimum of two competitions against other
recreational cheer programs in the Chicago area. While no prior experience is necessary, it is
helpful to have dance or gymnastics skills at the older age levels. However, nothing can replace a
good attitude, a sparkling smile and a commitment to your teammates.
Flag Football (2nd Grade)
The flag cheer program is a beginning cheer program to teach girls the fundamentals of football
cheerleading and prepare them for Golden Eagles Football cheer and competition squads
beginning in 3rd grade. The girls will learn side line cheers and the fundamentals of a cheer
program, such as traditional cheer movements, basic jumps, warm ups and cheer etiquette. The
girls will cheer once weekly on Saturday mornings for different GE flag football teams. This
program does not compete in Bill George cheer competitions.
