Dear Golden Eagles Tackle and Flag Football Families:

I would like to thank everyone for all their help in making the 2009 season such a great success. This year, we had over 600 players, 250 coaches and countless volunteers participating in the Golden Eagles flag and tackle programs.

Many volunteers work throughout the year to ensure the season will run smoothly in the fall. With over 70 players that will be moving on to high school, the Golden Eagles wish them the best of luck and hope the experience was positive in their development as a player as well as a young man.

We have a few off season matters that need to be addressed as well as some general feedback from the end of year surveys. I would like to thank all who filled out an online survey.

There were some great suggestions for improving our program, one being communication of dates and times. We have put up all dates that we know of for the season on the calendar on the Golden Eagle"s Website. Please check it often; we are working on keeping that information accurate and timely. We are in the process of reviewing the survey information with coaches and the park district.

If you are interested in volunteering as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent or any of our other committees, please contact the board member responsible at the email address below. In February, we will be interviewing for Head Coaching positions. Click here to visit the Golden Eagles Website and complete an application.

As you may know, District 87 has approved installing all-weather synthetic field turf on Memorial Field at Glenbard West High School. This is a cooperative effort between the District 87 School District, the Glen Ellyn Park District and private funds. The goal is to have it in place by the fall of 2010.

The Golden Eagles board would encourage you to donate to this effort, for we have been assured access to the field for both our Flag and Tackle programs. Any donation is tax deductable with the private portion being a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Click here for more information and to donate online.

Early Registration is February 27th and March 6th at Spring Avenue Recreation Center from 9 am to 1 pm. Please bring your player along so that they can be fitted for equipment and game uniform for the 2010 season. It is important that we have an accurate count of players to ensure we commit to the proper amount of teams at each level. At registration we will have additional information on local summer football camps as well as on the Golden Eagles Website.

Thanks for a great 2009 season and we look forward to 2010.
